WHAT WE LOVE...
In one of the Yorkshire Dales's quietest areas, the Washburn valley, yet only 20 minutes from Harrogate, this former coaching inn has built a steady reputation for its food; Sunday lunch, for example, continues well into the evening. Dishes, served at tables spread throughout the whole of the flagged and beamed ground floor area, are smart modern British cuisine with an impressive wine list to match. Most of the nine contemporary-country style bedrooms, some in the next-door cottage (the latter ideal for groups of friends), have original features of beams and deep-set windows with lovely views across the village and countryside. There are walks from the doorstep, a sun-trap beer garden and the two ground-floor rooms are dog-friendly.

Location
We love being able to step straight out of the door and take quiet woodland walks around the nearby Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs.
The Timble Inn is in a sleepy Yorkshire Dales village, 15 minutes' drive from the market town of Otley with pubs, shops and restaurants.
By car: Timble is 4 hours 40 mins from London and 1 hour 40 mins from Manchester. Free parking is available on-site.
By train: Skipton and Harrogate stations both have links to London via York and Leeds and are around 20 minutes in a taxi from the hotel. thetrainline.com
Style & Character
Foodies and others who want a chilled-out break in a smart country pub in a quiet village. We like the funky touches of raspberry-coloured walls and fairy lights around the beams which give a fun yet smart feel.
Service & Facilities
Returning to the pub after a day's walking, it was a treat to be able to have a cuppa - or a pint - in the south-facing beer garden and enjoy the views over the lower Wharfedale valley.

In the main building, Room 8 has beautiful views both over the village and countryside. The two rooms in the next-door cottage are ideal for a group of friends, or a family.
