Holiday Time Hotel, Santa Cruz de La Palma, La Palma
Once upon a time, Santa Cruz de La Palma was a major port in the Spanish Empire. You get a sense of its importance by strolling along its Avenida Marítima - where you will find this four-star hotel, in a restored building that's a cultural monument. The hotel opened in 2019, but you get an idea of what it must have been like in 1919 thanks to the sensitive makeover. It's a similar feeling as at the nearby Apartamentos Ki-Tapenas, a revamped property with the same ownership and also in an iconic building. Both offer offer guests a comfortable, leisurely connection with the past.
Holiday Time Hotel's privileged position sees it sandwiched between the city's beach and the pretty square of Plaza de Vandale.
The hotel is situated on the Avenida Marítima which runs parallel to the capital's main street, Calle O'Daly
By plane: flights from London take around 9 hours with a stop in Barcelona; flights from Birmingham take around 11 hours with a stop in Tenerife. The hotel is a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport. Street parking is available. skyscanner.net
