Glewstone Court is a handsome, Grade II-listed Georgian manor house in acres of grounds, tucked away up a driveway just off the A40 near picturesque Ross on Wye. Offering good-value indulgent short breaks, the historic property has been transformed into a comfortable, family-run country hotel, with nine tastefully furnished bedrooms. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner, with à la carte and six-course tasting menus and a more casual menu, as well as afternoon tea. The bar has an impressive 200-plus wine list plus a wide range of local beers, ciders and spirits. We love the menu's creative dishes - local wild boar, beetroot soup with a hint of chocolate and ricotta, three-bird Wellington, game birds wrapped in pastry. The chef's signature scotch egg with homemade brown sauce is delicious.
