Enjoy a boutique hotel stay with a special welcome cocktail and late check-out

Enjoy a boutique hotel stay at Indigo Bath, Chester or Stratford-upon-Avon, with a special welcome cocktail and late check-out included.

What we love...

The opening of Hotel Indigo Bath in autumn 2020 has been the biggest news on the accommodation front in the city for years. Spread along an elegant Grade I-listed Georgian terrace, the 166-room property merges two former hotels on the site. Tongue-in-cheek visual twists on all things Georgian set the fun tone - even though Indigo is part of the global InterContinental Hotels Group, this hotel is individually designed and doesn't feel part of a chain. Other winning elements include: the location, right in the city centre but quiet; the restaurant, Elder, which has quickly become one of the top places for a special meal in Bath; and the big drinks terrace on the wide pavement in front of the hotel.

The price

From £94.50pp*, per night (Sunday to Thursday)

We love the strikingly wide pavement fronting South Parade - a prime example of a Bath street laid out in Georgian times for promenading.

The hotel is in the heart of Bath, surrounded by shops and popular attractions and a short walk from the River Avon.

Style & Character

It's perfect for foodie couples looking for a high-end, central hotel that's more fun and informal than most of Bath's other upmarket places to stay. We love the see-and-be-seen vibe: we had drinks on the terrace next to a very famous former rugby international and his mates.

Service & Facilities

The restaurant manager's enthusiasm for and detailed knowledge of the delicious gamey offerings really enhanced our meal.

We like the cosy, attic-floor Literary Hideaway rooms, which feature Anglepoise lamps and pretend books on Bath and its surroundings as bed headboards. The generous amenities include some complimentary soft drinks, along with fresh milk for tea or coffee in a fridge.

Food & Drink

Venison, from wild deer shot on a Cotswolds estate, is a speciality. It's served as a main course with "dirty mash", the potato mixed with venison jus. Our wild damson soufflé, with shortbread balanced on top and bay leaf ice cream on the side, was superb.

The Elder: farm-to-fork and nose-to-tail fine dining, British cuisine, game, seafood, sustainable, seasonal and locally-sourced produce. Vegan and vegetarian menus. Open Weds-Sun for lunch and dinner. Set lunch from £27.50, two-course dinner £37.50, three courses £45.
