Visit Prince Charles’ country home with a talk from royal expert Jennie Bond, plus tour Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace
The Cotswolds are a timeless English destination - home to some
of the country's most gorgeous gardens and classic honey-stone
houses. It's no wonder that keen gardener Prince Charles chose it
as the location for his country retreat, the magical Highgrove
House.
Since buying the property in 1980, HRH has re-developed the
garden, taking on a new project every year. With the help of his
friend Lady Salisbury, he has surrounded the house with scented
wisteria, honeysuckle, jasmine and thyme, as well as creating an
experimental wildflower meadow of endangered native plants.
During your visit, you'll be joined by the BBC's former royal
correspondent, Jennie Bond, who'll share insights about the Royal
Family and the history of this magnificent country manor. Jennie
spent 14 years reporting on the monarchy and will give a talk and
take part in a Q&A session.
You'll also visit Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest
occupied castle in the world, now used by The Queen as her
permanent residence. The State Apartments are the focal point of
the castle and were modernised by Charles II, who was trying to
outdo his cousin Louis XIV's palace in Versailles. Admire painted
ceilings and the many works of art from the Royal Collection that
line the walls as you explore the lavish interiors.
Other highlights of this wonderful four-day trip will include
Henry VIII's extravagant Tudor mansion Hampton Court Palace,
Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and a walk around the
exterior of Buckingham Palace.

As a royal correspondent for 14 years, broadcaster and
journalist Jennie Bond was at the heart of events that made
headlines. She gave a personal account of her time as a royal
correspondent in a documentary for Channel 5, Jennie Bond's Royals,
and is the author of several books on the subject.
