Le Grand Quartier, Paris
A relative newcomer to the Parisian hotel scene, Le Grand Quartier has an independent spirit that's totally in keeping with its location in Paris's diverse 10th arrondissement. It's a short hop from the Eurostar, but this is a genuine urban haven, with a Wes Anderson-esque exterior and leafy courtyard giving way to lovely communal spaces. A cool ground floor cafe-restaurant attracts as many locals as it does visiting guests, and enthusiastic young staff - some wearing a low-key uniform of smart green hoodie and dark blue trousers - make staying here a delight. Rooms are likewise stylish and comfy, and though some are on the small side you won't be spending much time there - on your doorstep are some of the French capital's finest bars, boutiques and boulangeries.
As well as being handy for arrivals and departures, with good Metro connections, this is a diverse area with its own distinct identity.
Le Grand Quartier is in an area densely populated with trendy cafes, bars and restaurants.
By plane: Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is a 1 hour 15 minute flight from London. The hotel is around a 40 minute drive from the airport.
By train: the Eurostar terminus, the Gare du Nord, is under a 15-minute walk away. thetrainline.com
Style & Character
Couples with an eye for aesthetics will appreciate the low-key artworks and the concept store selling Caval shoes - the purposefully mismatched designs are worn by staff. We love the sense of sanctuary you feel in the hotel - with its gardens and abundant indoor planting, it feels a world away from the busy streets of Paris.
Service & Facilities
We love the a mini-market on the ground floor, selling high-end treats like champagne and posh chocolate - as well as essential toiletries such as toothbrushes.
- Free Wi-Fi
- Exercise classes
The Panoramic Suite is lovely - with a suitably impressive view and a small library, it feels like you've landed your own Parisian loft apartment. Quality mattresses are topped with peerlessly smooth white linens - the perfect place to loaf and write a letter on their delightful headed stationery.

Food & Drink
We love the flexible approach to breakfast - book anything from the full buffet to a bag containing fruit, juice and granola bar; handy for an early start. The pastries, in particular a Breton butter-cake called a kouign-amann, do not disappoint!
Le Grand Vacarme: unpretentious, modern French cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner. Plates from €12.
The Café: freshly bakes pastries and speciality coffee. Open for breakfast.
